Qualifications
Pennsylvania only recently passed laws requiring training for Massage Therapists, and the requirements have not yet been instated. When choosing your massage therapist, be sure to ask where they trained, how many hours of training they have, and if they are nationally certified. This is why it is important:
Massage therapy requires a keen understanding of the human anatomy. Your therapist must understand how the muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and fascia all interact with each other, and must know where to use light pressure and where heavy pressure is safe and appropriate. A skillful, enjoyable, safe massage requires many hours of education and practical experience.
Jacqueline received 1200 hours of anatomy, ethics, and practical and theoretical massage training at the Swedish Institute in New York City. She is nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Jacqueline is also a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of New York - one of only two states to require over 1,000 hours of training according to massageregister.com.
